Academic Intervention and Coaching

Learning is challenging, but not impossible. Using developmentally appropriate strategies, individualized according to their strengths, each student will learn how to reframe their concept of learning and studying.

learning to read and reading to learn

Teaching reading is an art and a science. Research evidence tells us that direct instruction in decoding the English language enables greater access and fluency in reading which leads to greater comprehension. Using the Orton-Gillingham approach, students will begin to enjoy reading and will be motivated to learn. Students will be guided through the different levels of thinking to learn to analyze, evaluate, and create knowledge.

writing with joy

Writing is a multi-faceted skill which demands many sub-skills like working memory, orthographic ability, organization and planning, and word recall. It requires the writer to have fluency in switching back and forth between seeing the big picture and the details within it. The student will understand the nature of writing, identify strengths and further areas to strengthen, and use strategies that results in a product high in quality and pride.

Executive Function Coaching

Each student can work to cultivate executive function skills. Some are more adept at it than others. This program is offered to help every student at any age to gain awareness of these skills and begin to use them to develop their sense of being with the world around them.
